Portfolio Example & Materials Statement
TahNibaa Naataanii

I am a Navajo Weaver, creating textiles using the traditional vertical loom. Textiles are created using two or multiple sheds to create a pattern or design. The materials I use are natural fibers, either protein or cellulose. I used hand spun wool from my sheep and also use matching process wool. I dye the wool using natural plant dyes and aniline packet dyes as well. I also use machine spun wool in various weights. In addition to traditional Navajo Weaving, I also weave on the floor looms, table looms, inkle looms, triangle looms.
