Portfolio Example & Materials Statement
Robert Patricio

The materials I use to create my potteries are traditional clay, (mined, grounded, and sifted) sandstone paints (soaked and strained), sandstone slip (soaked and strained), wild spinach (boiled and set to hardened), a handmade brush (made with human hair), smoothing rock, gourd, and handmade wooden tools. The techniques I use are hand-coiled, hand-built, hand-shaped, hand-painted, and traditional fire (cow manure, old pottery shards to sit and cover the pots).Everything I use to make my pottery comes from the earth, nothing is bought in stores.
