Incorporating Porcupine Quills into ArtworkAs an artist, I utilize a variety of tools and materials in my craft. One of my favorite sources of inspiration is porcupine quills, which I've been using since I was 13 years old. To create my unique pieces, I also use needles, thread, and felt/hide from deer, elk or moose. My technique involves sewing the quills down rather than wrapping them around raw hide, which I find to be the most effective method. In my work, I employ a weaving technique where I alternate the Quills until they reach their end, and then begin the pattern again by incorporating another Quill underneath. Additionally, I use a technique that involves pulling the Quills under the thread to create a cohesive and uniform appearance, Similar to wrapping around Raw hide like some Quill work artists do. Examples of my work that showcase these techniques can be found in my portfolio. Thank you for your time.
