Alex Manitopyes is a non-binary/trans masc fashion designer from Muskowekwan and Peepeekisis First Nations. Born and raised in Mohkinstsis (Calgary, Alberta), Alex's journey in fashion is deeply rooted in their cultural heritage. With a passion for blending traditional Indigenous artistry with contemporary high fashion, Alex seeks to create designs that reflect both personal identity and the diverse richness of Indigenous culture.

The name SACRD THNDR, founded in 2023, is a tribute to Alex’s ancestral name, Manito Pinaycee, meaning Sacred Thunderbird—a symbol of strength, resilience, and transformation. Through colonial translation, it became Manito Peeyesew, and was later shortened by the Indian agent to Manitopyes. As a Two-Spirit designer, Alex brings an inclusive and visionary approach to the fashion world, celebrating the fluidity and diversity of Indigenous identity.
