Vivian Descheny, a traditional Diné weaver, crafts Navajo rugs on a standing loom using natural sheep wool, churro wool, and in some instances contemporary yarn material. Using hand carded wool, Vivian hand spins the wool into yarn using a drop spindle. She then hand dyes her yarn using native plants. Vivian’s rugs reflect the landscape and traditional weavings of the Navajo people.
