Tol-pi-yiné Simbola is a contemporary Native metalsmith from Picuris Pueblo, NM. He started making jewelry at the age of 12 under the guidance of his mother, and also began participating in the Santa Fe Indian Market. Next year will mark his 21st year participating in the market. Working out of his studio just outside of Santa Fe - Tol-pi-yiné's work is all hand fabricated, designed, and made by him. He is known for his stand-out "Dragon Skinn" line of jewelry, in which each "scale" is hand stamped and hammered from the backside to create the intimidating look, and also his "Pixel Twist" line - where each piece is meticulously measured, and each "cube" is hand cut before being twisted and made into bracelets, rings, earrings, chokers, pendants, and links.Tol-pi-yiné also recently attended a renowned diamond setting school in Franklin, Tennessee - where he spent a month learning how to set precious stones and diamonds in various settings under a microscope, as well as engraving.
