As a Cherokee artist, my work is a bridge between tradition and innovation, honoring the weaving techniques passed down through generations while exploring new forms of artistic expression. Basketry, for me, is more than craft – it is a reflection of resilience, identity, and connection to the land and community. Each piece I create, from double wall baskets to contemporary designs adorned with copper and woven figures, tells a story rooted in Cherokee culture. I weave not only with reed and wire but with intention, allowing symbolism and personal narratives to emerge through each pattern and form.
