Portfolio Example & Artist Statement

Hello my name is Sheryl Edaakie, I have been making Zuni multi-colored inlaid jewelry since 1984. I developed a true artistic form of my own designs. My work ranges from simple two colored inlaid forms to several different stones inlaid on a single piece. My work, over the years, has developed into superb color combinations and balanced designs that are unmatched in other forms of inlaid jewelry in today's market. I have been raised in Zuni, New Mexico, the largest pueblo of the 19 pueblos located in New Mexico. I learned the perfection of multi-colored inlaid jewelry from my husband’s father, Zino Edaakie, my late father in-lawZino Edaakie is the brother of the well-known artist Dennis Edaakie. In my earlier years, Zino, taught me the simple method of using basic stones that were available during those years, but as the years progressed, I started using other various colors of stones that bring out the rainbow color combinations in my jewelry. I carry on the tradition.
