When I was young I was sent to my grandmother house to ask for potatoes and sugar. I was not handed the items i asked for, instead, I was forced to help her with her weaving process. I was taught to count cards, make spindle, create dyes from natural materials, add hair to wool to make it stronger. I learned to use finger and hand stretches as measuring tools. I learned so much but was upset because I helped her make beautiful rugs and did not receive any of the monetary earnings she received. Not until I was older I realized, I earned more than what money could give me. I learned the expertise of my grandmothers weaving skills. She passed this to me and now I can pass on to my kin.
