Portfolio Example & Artist Statement

I am a Dine’ from Mexican Springs, New Mexico. My shared studio is called Yoodoojaa. I am a semi-retired professional with twenty-five years of experience in power & energy and mining. My designed pieces are to be unique, durable, one-of-a-kind and to be worn as a statement piece. I believe my jewelry holds medicine, strength, resiliency, and reverence. All my custom pieces are made from authentic turquoise, genuine coral, and other precious stones from around the world. I deliver good energy and spirit thru my handcrafted pieces. I use lapidary and stone cutting work tools to cut, grind, and polish precious stones to be used into my designed jewelry. After sizing, I then edge-grind them using a lapidary wheel. Next, I proceed to tumble the precious stones with appropriate media. Lastly, I polish and refine the precious stones to be used into my jewelry design. I also use metals like sterling silver, gold, and other shells and stones to complement my finished jewelry.
