Hello im Ryan Panana. I am a second generation sculptor from Jemez Pueblo New Mexico. I learned about carving Stone at a young age helping my father Matthew Panana, helping him with his artwork. I got inspired by a lot of artist in my family and community. Each summer we would make a carving for the Indian market, or help him complete his carvings. I took 1st place in the youth division. I sold my tiny bear fetish for a nice amount. I brought myself a bunch of Legos, and I knew this is something I could get use too haha. I also enjoyed how people were so kind, generous and motivating to me as a young artist. Art is a great way of expression, and to create timeless art that has great meaning of our culture and the symbolism between the earth, tradition, nature and wildlife. I like to carve things that interest me. The material used to carve are mainly limestone, alabaster, mohogany and marble base. Angle grinders, sanders, hand tools, sandpaper.
