Portfolio Example & Artist Statement

Raylan Edaakie is from the Pueblo of Zuni. Raylan comes from a long history of creating jewelry as his parents were silversmiths. He drew his inspirations from the work of his parents. Usingthose designs and elements, reflecting on significant Zuni ideology, and adding their own uniquestyle are the driving elements in creating their art. A central element found in his work is the Sun Face design. For the Zuni people, we regard the Sun as the Father of all living beings. It is for this reason Raylan uses it as the focal point of their artwork. Raylan uses Sterling Silver, which is hand formed, soldered, and inlaid with high quality stones, corals, and shells.
