With the pieces that I create I use a mixture of glass seed beads, vintage glass beads, 18k gold seed beads, and cut-glass crystals, all hand-stitched onto traditional smoked deer and moose hides, along with canvas and cotton fabrics. I incorporate silk and velveteen fabrics as backing, using techniques such as appliqué, edge beading, three-dimensional beading, I use the two needle method to create depth and texture. The designs I use follow nehiyaw and dene floral patterns, honoring ancestral teachings while allowing for contemporary expression. Each stitch is placed with intention, carrying stories of resilience, connection, and cultural identity. Through this work, I honor the land, my ancestors, and the ongoing legacy of Indigenous artistry that reflects who I am and where I come from.
