Portfolio Example & Artist Statement

As a visual artist from the Pueblos of San Felipe and Santo Domingo, my work is rooted in the rich history of Pueblo Pottery and the structural foundation of jewelry making. Exploring these mediums, I utilize alternative processes in ceramics and jewelry that incorporate specialized machinery. In making use of new technology I aim to inspire the younger generation to keep traditional arts alive while also staying current with the ever evolving technology based world. I combine self harvested native clay, slip, and traditional firing with lasers and 3d printers. Acknowledging traditional ways of creating; knowledge passed down in stories and songs, enforces a sense of purpose and identity that is rooted in knowing who I am and what I do is part of an ancient lineage chronicled in the earth. My developing oeuvre expands on the amalgamation of ancestral knowledge with an amplified view on what it means to be an experimental Potter in a contemporary setting bound by the rules of the Clay,
