Portfolio Example & Artist Statement

My primary media of choice is acrylic, either on canvas, metal or wood panels. I begin with a pencil sketch of my composition, and outline that with a black texture paste. Then, I create lots of thin layers and sculpt texture with a thick gesso using various tools.(Palette knife, combs, scraper, sanding blocks.etc)After my textures have dried, I paint multiple layers of acrylic paint and sometimes precious metal leafing. These techniques, that I have continued to perfect over 2 decades, give my art a glow from within luminosity and are very recognizable. Thank you.
