Portfolio Example & Artist Statement

I am a 5th generational weaver. I learned primarily from my mother and also learned techniques from watching my grandmother weave rugs. At a very young age I was part of the family team who would help herd the sheep, shear the wool, card, spin and dye the wool (yarn). At age 7 I was confident in my teachings, I began to weave on my own. I wove to make a living and support myself through my years of education. Over the years, I began experimenting with the various techniques of dyeing and using breeds of sheep wool; then to trying different shapes of the rugs and styles. I eventually created my own style which are 3 dimensional wedge weaves and also computer inspired weavings. I have attended and won numerous ribbons in various shows and markets. My work have been in exhibitions internationally.
