Around 1989, I took a serious look at what was hidden within. There was an immediate demand on learning about my culture. Eventhough I was brought up on the reservation, we did not experience our culture as my ancestors had. My drive turned into reality, attending many basket weaving workshops, traveling to Alaska for more classes. I learned how to gather cedar bark, which I still do. I researched at museums from BC, Canada to Quebec and Washington DC. I then could sit down and recreate what my ancestors taught me, to weave traditional baskets.
