My pottery is all traditional hand coiled from bottom to top using natural clay and mineral paints from the Jemez mountains. I also make my own clay from scratch and that process i smash the clay into small fine clay, then I filter the clay with a sifter to take out the small rocks and dry pieces. I also use tampered clay and and that is also the same process by digging and cleaning the clay. Then I mix the natural and tampered clays together to balance the clay so no cracks are in the making process and to keep the clay together. After the drying process on the pottery I completed, then I sand the piece to make it smooth for the painting process. when the pottery is completed then I fire the pottery by using cedar wood and metal panels to block the wind and to reach its hot temperature and that is outside firing. I also use kiln and contemporary paints as well on some of my pieces.
