I am a Plein Air and Studio oil painter. I paint and gather my inspiration and studies outside from nature, this helps inform my studio pieces. My work consists of using the following materials to create my artwork. I use primary oil colors; light yellow, bright red, and ultramarine blue. I also use a two secondary color, veridian green and mauve purple to create all the colors I see from nature. I paint on canvas boards that I prep myself; I use balsa wood and gesso. I cut to desired size and then I gesso the board with four layers. My paint bushes consist of use natural bristle bushes from size 2 all the way to size 8. After a painting is completed, I varnish my paintings to protect the paint and to bring back the colors. I then use frames from frame shops to complete my paintings.I paint 'ala prima' technique, using fat over lean method to compete my oil paintings. This allows me to paint wet into wet paint, by starting off thin and adding and applying thicker paint as it develops.
