Kevin Aspaas

Navajo textile artist that utilizes the traditional Navajo sheep to loom process. Textiles are woven on a Navajo style vertical loom. Textiles are woven with 100% wool and are hand-dyed with natural dyes like indigo, cochineal, chamisa, etc. Artist is known for their Navajo wedge weave technique, known as pulled warp, once woven in the mid 1800s. Aspaas also creates traditional woven dresses, sash belts and various utilitarian textiles.
