I was taught the traditional Santa Clara pottery technique by my grandmother Jody Folwell. I use a standard hand coiled technique to build the pot; using hand gathered materials found in our traditional homeland Santa Clara Pueblo. I push the boundaries of our traditional pottery by using several contemporary styles including graffiti, street, and pop art. I use sgraffito technique along with hand painted original design work to emphasize the theme of each carefully crafted pot. I also fire and color my pieces in the traditional method using cow manure and other organic materials. I also use ancient and modern pigments, colors and glow in the dark paints to emphasize the design and shape of my creations.
