I utilized a combination of different techniques in creating my contemporary animal portraits, landscapes, and non-objective paintings. I usually start with a hand-created and stretched canvas. For my non-object abstract pieces, I create multiple layers and blending techniques to build depth and complexity within my pieces. I use broad brushstrokes to create dynamic and energetic movements on the canvas. In my landscape pieces I use handmade paper to build up and create a textured landscape off set by a smooth sky. I prefer to work in bold vibrant hues that evoke emotions and create a visually captivating experience. For my animal portraits, I paint great details in the animal imagery and then create a background that conveys the energy and emotion in the animal at that moment in time.
