I, Jade Valerie Calabaza, carry on grandparents, Joseph F. and Mary Ann Calabaza's legacy specializing in super fine heishi necklaces and earrings. Each necklace starts from rough stone, or shell (i.e. Turquoise, Black Jet, Pipstone etc.), that is sliced into strips to have holes drilled into each strip. Then is strung onto wire to be grinded down to desired size. Once this is complete, I polish and restring onto nylon string. Each necklace has its own special unique quality behind it because each piece is individually handcrafted. This type of artwork has been passed down for many generations, and is a representation of our traditional values.
