I create baskets with very thin splints from the black ash tree and sweetgrass. I dye the splints using commercial dyes. I harvest and prepare the sweetgrass. I have to the clean and prepare the splints before it can be cut into strips. These techniques were passed down to me by my mother who has been making baskets for over 40 years.
