Materials: Northern New Mexico clay is the primary material and New Mexico red clay slip for the burnishing/polishing process.Technique: Pottery is hand-coiled using the Northern New Mexico clay. All pieces are hand-cut and carved, followed by an extensive drying process, then sanded for a smooth finish. Once pieces are dried and sanded, they under go the polishing process using red clay slip and smooth stones. The pieces are finally traditionally fired.
