Portfolio Example & Artist Statement

As a Cheyenne Artist, I create Cheyenne style Ledger Art. I utilize antique ledger documents such as tax documents, banking statements, and antique checks. All are created utilizing drawing techniques in which I use India Ink pens and drawing pencils. I fill in the art by using painting techniques with watercolors, gouache, India inks, and acrylic paints. I also use charcoal, and mixed media techniques when I create my Ledger Art. As a modern-day Cheyenne, I feel that it is important that people know the true beginnings of pictographic art on paper, now known as the genre called Ledger Art. It started with my people, The Cheyenne. I use my artwork as a tool to let people know about the history of my people.
