For my Jemez pottery, I use all natural Jemez clays with Valles Caldera volcanic ash temper. My pots are all hand coiled and finally shaped using a gourd scraper. I use natural Jemez red and white earth slips. My carved pieces are all hand-carved with a river willow pick, during medium-wet stage. My pots are reduction-fired in a wood bond fire, and smothered by pulverized dry buffalo manure from Taos Pueblo. The pots are all burnished by hand using river stones handed down by my grandmother and maternal uncle.
