Portfolio Example & Artist Statement
Dorothy Begay

As a Diné tapestry artist I predominantly use wool for the weft and warp. From time to time, I incorporate mohair, cotton, and silk for the weft. I weave on an upright vertical Navajo loom; utilizing a continuous warping technique. I use weft-face tapestry weave, hatching (blending & plying) weave; hand dyed yarn with plants and insects.
