I am a contemporary Native American figure painter. I utilize oil paint and canvas to create a cross cultural dialogue that investigates contemporary Native American identity. "Faces of Our Land: Decolonizing Urban Identities" (FOL) is a platform for my artistic journalism exploring the American Indian diaspora, providing audiences with an honest, real, in-depth exposure to American Indian experiences. This project is an immersive and collaborative process that interviews contemporary Native American perspectives from across New Mexico and Indian Country. Each model and their story inspires and directs my approach to the canvas as I paint compositions that question American Indian stereotypes. To date, I have filmed more than 10 interviews that has resulted in a short documentary, published seven Ebooks, and painted multiple large format (life sized) paintings as well as a limited run of medium sized (40" X 30") studies.
