Portfolio Example & Artist Statement

I use smoked brain-tanned deer hides for my beadwork. I use glass beads, brass sequins, nylon beading thread, bees wax and beading needles. I also use wool trade cloth in various colors. I also use silk or cotton materials for an added adornment for the inside of my beaded bags.I use one needle for doing my beadwork. One needle for a lane stitch and one needle for the overlay stitch. Normally you would use two needles for the overlay stitch, to tack down the row of beads. Using one needle is traditional to the Ute people.
