Portfolio Example & Artist Statement

Typically, I use various techniques; one-needle applique, single, whip, baseball, 2 bead flat stitching. Materials typically include contemporary and antique micro beads, ranging in size from 13/0-18/0, beaded on brain-tanned, smoked buckskin. I try to use antique findings when I can. I love to take what has happened or is happening in my life and share those stories through beadwork. My favorite pieces to bead are abstract. I like to challenge myself and viewers to work our eyes a bit harder in consideration of the subject. My favorite subjects are flowers and butterflies. My favorite topics are those of cultural identity and psychological evolution. Being born into a multigenerational household had a significant impact on my work.
