I search for cedar trees, maple, birch, and other trees in the woods and harvest them. I then shape the wood using hand tools, many of which I have made myself. I use a horse I made specifically for flutes and a draw shave made by my father, a crooked knife made by me to shape the cylinder. I use beeswax to condition the wood. I use burning techniques and inlay to decorate the flute. I learned by watching my grandfather.
