Materials are Acoma traditional clay, tool are gourds and wooden tools to sculpt pottery. Smooth stones are used to polish pottery. Rainwater and wild spinach mixed with hemitight to make black paint. Yucca stems are used to paint pottery designs. Pottery is all handmade with traditional clay, patterns and designs are painted with yucca brushes. Completed pottery is then fired outdoors and kilmed. Designs are all handed down from generations and are unique.
