Portfolio Example & Artist Statement
Bryan Waytula

I use acrylics, graphite, charcoal, colored pencils, and spray paint to create many of my works from realism to contemporary. I've demonstrated at numerous museums and markets from drawing, painting, and spray painting to resin casting and silicone mold making of sculptures I paint. My drawings have earned awards at State and National shows. Recently I was a SemiFinalist for the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery Exhibition for a piece I submitted last year entitled "The Grass Dancer". I've been working with colored pencils by Prismacolor since 1996 and now teaching tribal youths the technique and tricks of overlaying colors to achieve a painted look on matboard.
