Portfolio Example & Materials Statement
Beth Bush

I create beadwork and quillwork using traditional and contemporary Indigenous techniques. My materials include Czech glass beads, porcupine quills (both natural and hand-dyed), birchbark, smoked deer hide, velvet, wool, and caribou tufting. I use techniques such as spot stitching, overhand quillwork, bead wrapping, brick stitch, and appliqué to bring my designs to life. My work is deeply inspired by Potawatomi stories, symbolism, and traditional teachings, incorporating natural elements and patterns that reflect the land, water, and sky.
