Portfolio Example & Artist Statement

I have been a jeweler for over 40 years. I was born and raised on the Navajo reservation. I am a full time jeweler. I use only Sterling Silver and Natural stones on all my pieces. My trademark is the "Dine' People Story Telling" of life in the 1950's-60's. I also do "Pueblo Story Telling". The story telling comes straight from my memory and observations and is sawed out on sterling silver plates. I use a coping saw with blade size 04. I work with natural turquoise and coral stones, and spiny oyster shell on my pieces. I make bracelets, rings, earrings, necklaces, pendants, bow guards, squash blossoms, link belts, concho belts, bolo ties. I create my own bolo tips and backings on all my pieces using sterling silver. All my pieces are steel wool finished creating an antique look, very seldom high polish. I like to incorporate stamp work on my pieces. My inventory is around 100 assorted stamps. I enjoy my work.
